Laser Eye Surgery

Lasik which stands for laser in-situ keratomileusis, is a popular surgery used to correct vision in people who are near-sighted, far-sighted, or have astigmatism. All laser vision correction surgeries work by reshaping the cornea, the clear front part of the eye, so that light travelling through it is properly focused onto the retina located in the back of the eye. LASIK is one of the different surgical techniques used to reshape the cornea.

LASIK has many benefits, including:

  • It corrects the vision. Around 96% of patients will have their desired vision after LASIK. An enhancement can further increase this number.
  • LASIK is associated with very little pain due to the numbing drops that are used.
  • Vision is corrected nearly immediately or by the day after LASIK.
  • No bandages or stitches are required after LASIK.
  • After having LASIK, most patients have a dramatic reduction in eyeglass or contact lens dependence and many patients no longer need them at all.
Cataract Surgery

When the eye’s naturally clear lens becomes clouded, it’s called a cataract. Most cataracts are the result of the natural process of aging. Others may be present at birth or develop as a result of physical, drug, or chemical injury. Cataract surgery is one of the most common operations performed across the world.

Cataract surgery does not require the patient to get admitted to the hospital, and so you don’t have to stay in the hospital. The actual surgery usually lasts less than an hour. The benefit of a Cataract surgery is that you will no longer have to wear glasses.

Glaucoma Surgery

Glaucoma is an eye diseases causing optic nerve damage. The optic nerve carries images from the retina, which is the specialized light sensing tissue, to the brain so we can see. In glaucoma, eye pressure plays a role in damaging the delicate nerve fibres of the optic nerve. When a significant number of nerve fibres are damaged, blind spots develop in the field of vision. Once nerve damage and visual loss occur, it is permanent. Most people don’t notice these blind areas until much of the optic nerve damage has already occurred. Glaucoma is a leading cause of blindness in the world, especially in older people. Early detection and treatment by the ophthalmologist are the keys to preventing optic nerve damage and vision loss from glaucoma.

Corneal Surgery

A Corneal Surgery is in which an eye surgeon removes a portion of your cornea and replaces it with a new section of cornea from a donor. The procedure is also called a corneal transplant.

The patient is awake during the transplant and local anesthesia (numbing medicine) will be injected around the patient’s eye to block pain and prevent eye movement during the surgery.

Vitreo-retinal Surgery

Vitreo-retinal surgery refers to any operation to treat eye problems involving the retina, macula, and vitreous fluid. These include retinal detachment, macular hole, Epiretinal membrane and complications related to diabetic retinopathy.

Oculoplastic Surgery

Oculoplastics, or Oculoplastic surgery, includes a wide variety of surgical procedures that deal with the orbit (eye socket), eyelids, tear ducts, and the face. It also deals with the reconstruction of the eye and associated structures.

Enucleation Of Eye

Enucleation is the removal of the eye that leaves the eye muscles and remaining orbital contents intact. This type of ocular surgery is indicated for a number of ocular tumours, in eyes that have suffered severe trauma, and in eyes that are otherwise blind and painful.
